Saganaki El Greco – feta breaded with sesame

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 200 g feta cheese, 1 cm thick slices
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ cup sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • ¼ cup water
  • 4 tbsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Crack the egg into a plate. Add the sesame seeds to a second plate. Roll the feta slices in the egg and then coat them with sesame seeds. First, prepare the sauce. To do this, simmer the balsamic vinegar, honey, and water over low heat until syrupy, about 10-15 minutes, then let it cool. Melt the butter in a pan. Fry the cheese slices until crispy brown on both sides. Serve the baked cheese basted with the balsamic syrup.
