Gyros – pasta casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g meat (gyros)
  • 400g penne
  • 500 g tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 small can of mushrooms
  • 1 small bell pepper(s)
  • 1 small chili pepper(s)
  • 200 ml cream
  • 200 g cheese (Emmental), grated
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 3 tbsp basil
  • 2 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 2 cl Metaxa
  • Salt and pepper, white
  • olive oil
  • Water (salt water)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Finely chop and dice the bell pepper. Sauté the mushrooms and bell pepper in olive oil. Set aside and brown the meat. When the meat is cooked, add the passata, tomato paste, cream, Metaxa, chili, garlic, and seasoning. Then add 50g of cheese (about a handful). Stir well and bring to a boil briefly until the cheese has melted. Then add the bell peppers and mushrooms and stir well. Combine everything in a baking dish with the pasta and mix. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in the oven at 200°C for 15 minutes.
