Irish orange and grapefruit jelly

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 4 large oranges, 2 of which are untreated
  • 4 large grapefruit(s), pink
  • 1 sachet of Gelfix Extra (2:1)
  • 1 sachet of citric acid
  • 400 g sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Very popular in Ireland and not bitter! Makes 4 glasses of 250 ml each

Grate the zest of 2 oranges. Squeeze the oranges and grapefruits. Measure 375 ml of juice each. Mix the gel mix with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Add the juices, orange zest, and citric acid. Bring everything to a boil. When the mixture boils, add the remaining sugar. Bring back to a boil and then simmer for at least 3 minutes. Skim the jelly and test for settling. Immediately pour the jelly into hot, rinsed, twist-off jars and turn upside down for 5 minutes.
