Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 2 pork schnitzels or turkey schnitzels, 300 g each
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- Thyme, dried
- salt and pepper
- 1 small vegetable onion(s)
- 250 g pointed cabbage
- ½ cucumber(s)
- 4 m.-sized tomatoes
- 300 g yogurt (whole milk)
- 2 tsp spice mix for tzatziki
- ½ lemon(s), grated peel
- Pepper for garnishing
- Olives for garnishing
- Thyme for garnishing
- Paprika powder, sweet
Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Cut the meat into strips. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of oil with the thyme and paprika powder. Mix with the meat and marinate for about 30 minutes. Peel and roughly dice the onion. Fry the meat in a heated pan for about 5 minutes until golden brown. Add half of the onion and fry briefly. Let cool. Finely slice the pointed cabbage. Peel and dice the cucumber if desired. Wash and slice the tomatoes. Mix together the yogurt, 2 tablespoons of oil, the tzatziki spice mix, and the lemon zest. Season with salt and pepper. Layer the vegetables, onions, gyros, and tzatziki sauce in 4 serving bowls. Serve garnished with chili peppers, olives, and thyme. Tip: Simply increase the quantity and you’ll have a great party salad.
