steamed delicacy – Chinese dim sum
Thaw the wonton wrappers (available at Asian stores or wholesale markets). Mix all the other ingredients together and let stand for about 15 minutes. Place a wonton wrapper in the palm of your hand and place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center. Pour some soy sauce into a small bowl and brush the corners of the wrapper with it. Hold the wrapper in your hand and form it into a pouch, then firmly press the corners together for about 30 seconds. Place the dim sum in a steamer basket or in the steamer insert of a wok or pressure cooker; they must not touch each other! To prepare in a steamer basket: Line the steamer basket with baking paper and place it in a wok filled with boiling water (the water can touch the basket, but not the pouches). To prepare in a steamer basket: Lightly oil the steamer insert (ideally with an oil-soaked paper towel), place the dim sum in it, and steam according to the instructions. The dim sum is ready when the batter looks “transparent.” Tastes great with various sauces or as a warming ingredient for a sushi evening.
