Egyptian meat stew

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g beef for braising, cut into small pieces
  • 3 large onions
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 stalk(s) leek
  • 2 sprigs of celery or 1 piece of celery root
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp dill
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 750 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 35 minutes

Slice the onions into rings. Heat the oil and sauté the onions and garlic. Add the finely chopped leek and celery and fry briefly. Remove everything from the pan and heat a little more oil. Brown the meat in it. Add the vegetables and spices. Deglaze with water and simmer for about 1 hour. Serve with sour cream and fresh bread.
