Baked onion soup

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp powdered sugar
  • 1 liter vegetable broth
  • 1 jar white wine
  • 4 slices of toast
  • 50 g cheese, grated
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

my version of the classic

Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings. Sauté them slowly in butter until translucent. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and let it caramelize slightly. Pour in the wine and let it reduce slightly. Top up with broth (preferably homemade), season with salt and a little pepper. Remove the crust from the bread, toast it, and sprinkle with grated cheese. Ladle the soup into soup bowls, place the bread on top, and brown the cheese under the broiler.
