Gateau au Chocolat my way

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 125 g chocolate, 70% cocoa content
  • 3 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 3 tbsp orange liqueur
  • 5 eggs
  • 120 g sugar
  • 200 g butter, soft
  • 200 g almonds, ground
  • 50 g flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 150 g dark chocolate coating
  • 3 tbsp orange liqueur
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • Butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 25 minutes

Chocolate cake

Very carefully melt the chocolate with the liqueur and butter, add the vanilla sugar and mix thoroughly. Separate the eggs, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until frothy, and beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Add the egg yolk mixture to the slightly cooled chocolate mixture and mix well, then carefully fold in the egg whites. Add the almonds, baking powder, and flour and mix everything well again. Grease a springform pan (no more than 26 cm or 24 cm in diameter) well with butter and pour in the mixture. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius on the middle shelf for 40 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and remove the ring. Melt the chocolate coating with the liqueur and cream, cover the cake with it, and allow to set. Tip: The better the quality of the chocolate, the better the cake will taste. Don’t skimp on this—quite the opposite. The cake makes eight decent slices, for example, as the dessert of a meal.
