Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 350 g flour
  • 15 g yeast, fresh
  • 35 g butter
  • 125 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 1 egg(s)
  • Salt
  • 500 g onion(s), cut into rings
  • 500 g sour apples, cored and cut into wedges
  • 100 g bacon (belly bacon), smoked and finely sliced
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 100 g cheese (Gouda), grated
  • 1 pinch(s) caraway seeds, ground
  • Rosemary, to taste
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Modified onion cake

Sauté the onions and apples in the fried bacon until translucent, then let cool. Combine the flour, butter, lukewarm milk, salt, and egg in a bowl. Mix with the yeast dissolved in a little lukewarm water in a small bowl. Make a yeast dough that isn’t too light. Place the dough on a baking sheet greased with oil and roll it out. Let it rise for 15 minutes. Place the cooled onions/apples on the dough, mix the eggs with the sour cream, season with salt, and spread it over the apples and onions. Sprinkle with caraway seeds and rosemary, and finally, the grated cheese. Bake at 200°C for 30 to 35 minutes.
