Bread soup with apples and plums

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slices of black bread
  • 4 apples
  • 250 g plum(s)
  • 1 lemon(s)
  • 100 g sugar
  • 125 ml white wine
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt
  • Carnation(s), approx. 1 – 2
  • cinnamon sugar
  • Lemon flavor

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Cut the bread and the peeled, cored apples into small cubes. Halve and pit the plums. Boil everything in about 1 1/4 liters of water seasoned with sugar, lemon flavoring, 1 to 2 cloves, and a little salt for about 20 to 25 minutes. Then strain the soup through a coarse sieve or puree it in a blender. Reheat the soup and season with white wine and lemon juice. Serve with a garnish of apple pieces, sautéed in butter, and plum halves sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon.
