Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g beef goulash
- 150g bacon
- 500 g onion(s)
- 500 g bell pepper(s)
- 400 g okra
- 250 ml beef stock
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 m.-large bay leaves
- 2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3 tbsp oil, neutral

A great dish from Louisiana
Finely dice the bacon and fry in a tablespoon of hot oil. Add the remaining oil and brown the meat vigorously. Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic, add them to the meat along with the sugar, and fry. Wash and trim the okra, add to the meat, and fry for about 3 minutes. Deglaze with stock, add salt, bay leaves, and cayenne pepper. Cover and simmer gently for 90 minutes. Trim, wash, and dice the bell peppers. Cook for 10 minutes. Season with salt and cayenne pepper to taste. Important: If using canned okra, please add it to the meat first along with the bell peppers. Side dish: rice or white bread. Tip: Okra can be found in Turkish grocery stores.
