Chipotle – Honey – Mustard

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 75 g mustard seeds, yellow
  • 75 g mustard seeds, brown
  • 100 g honey (sweet, thick consistency)
  • 50 g chili pepper(s) (dried chipotle chilies)
  • 200 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Incomparably delicious, sweet and spicy mustard!

Grind half of each of the two mustard seeds to a fine powder in a coffee grinder. Then grind the chipotle chilies to a powder as well. Of course, other chili varieties can be used, but the flavor will vary considerably, as the smoky flavor of chipotle chilies is very dominant! In a saucepan, combine the honey with the apple cider vinegar, oil, the remaining mustard seeds, and the three powders. Simmer over medium heat until a thick, creamy mixture forms. Then pour the mixture into screw-top jars. It tastes great with grilled food, on bread (with both sausage and cheese), and basically with almost anything, if you ask me!
