Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 cup flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¾ tsp salt
- pepper
- 1 cup of beer
- 4 cup(s) fat
- 1 egg white
- 500 g mozzarella, cheese sticks or strips

American mozzarella sticks
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pepper. Slowly add the beer. Whisk until well combined. Cover and let the mixture rest for 90 minutes. Heat the frying oil in a deep pan to 180 degrees Celsius. Stir the egg whites into the batter and dip the mozzarella sticks into the batter. Using a wooden spoon with a hole, add a few sticks at a time to the hot oil and fry for 2.5-3 minutes, until crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve warm. Alternatively, you can use water instead of beer, and instead of frying, you can bake the sticks on a greased baking sheet at 220 degrees Celsius for 4 minutes.
