Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 300 g pretzel(s) (without salt)
  • 200 ml milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 onions
  • 100 g butter
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Parsley, chopped
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cut the pretzels into small pieces. Melt the butter and pour it over the pretzel cubes along with the milk. Let everything soak in well. Dice the onions, sauté them, and add them to the pretzel mixture. Add the egg and season everything with salt, pepper, parsley, and nutmeg. Cut a large piece of baking paper and a large piece of aluminum foil. Place the baking paper on top of the aluminum foil. Place the dumpling mixture in a rope on the baking paper. Wrap the dumpling mixture in the baking paper and twist tightly. Wrap the baking paper in the aluminum foil. Place the roll in boiling water. Do not boil the dumpling roll; just let it steep. Turn off the heat. After 20 minutes, remove the dumpling roll from the water. You can also use dry pretzels for pretzel dumplings, but then use more milk for soaking. Mushroom sauce goes well with it.
