Pad Krapao – Thai minced meat with Chinese influences

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g rice
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 red chili pepper(s)
  • 1 tsp Sriracha sauce or 2 tsp Sambal Oelek
  • 2 tbsp agave syrup
  • 1 lime(s), juice
  • 150 ml hoisin sauce
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 6 sprigs Thai basil, alternatively Italian basil
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 500 g minced meat
  • 2 tbsp wok oil
  • 4 eggs
  • Fried onions for sprinkling
  • Basil for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Finely chop the garlic and chili pepper. Mix the sauce ingredients. Fry the minced meat in oil in a wok or pan. Add the sauce, bring to a boil, season to taste, and simmer for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, fry the fried eggs in a little oil in a separate pan. Serve everything together and sprinkle with fried onions and basil. Serve with broccoli.
