Afghan meatballs

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 5 onions, very finely chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves
  • salt and pepper
  • 6 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 can of tomatoes, peeled
  • Spice(s), Afghan style
  • some water

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Finely chop the onions and garlic. In a bowl, combine the minced meat, about half of the onions, and the spices. Let everything simmer for a while. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large pot and sauté the remaining onions and garlic (the onions should cover the bottom!). Then add the tomatoes, which were slightly chopped in the can, to the pot, add a little water, and season to taste. Now form the minced meat into small balls (about 4 cm in diameter) and add them to the pot. Let everything simmer with the lid closed until done. This includes the yogurt and mint dip, which I’ve also included.
