variable basic recipe

Peel the onion, dice finely, and sauté briefly, if desired. Rub a pan with a little oil. Combine the dry ingredients and add the hot water. Stir until a thick batter forms. Form six small patties (approx. 1 cm thick) and fry in the pan over medium heat until lightly browned on both sides. The patties are delicious hot or cold, as a side dish or on a roll. You can also mix tomato paste into the batter and vary the flavor with various herbs such as thyme, rosemary, or parsley. For an even juicier finish, add grated carrot. The lupin flour makes the patties very filling and, despite the low fat content, has a beautifully intense flavor that is in no way inferior to the “meaty” version. Tip: Sweet lupin flour is available in organic and health food stores. It is rich in valuable amino acids and is also ideal for a protein-enriched diet for athletes.
