Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg veal heart(s)
- 5 large onions, quartered
- 200 g tomatoes, dried
- 150 g dried mushrooms (chestnut mushrooms, butter mushrooms, porcini mushrooms)
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1 tsp curry powder
- 1 tsp broth (vegetable or meat broth)
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- salt and pepper
- 800 ml water

Thoroughly clean the veal heart under running water, removing all tendons, etc. Then cut it into fairly small cubes and sauté in hot fat. Add the onions and let them brown. Soak the mushrooms in a little water. Then add the spices, garlic, and the diced tomatoes and mushrooms. Sauté everything thoroughly and add the water. Simmer for about an hour, stirring occasionally and adding more water if necessary. Finally, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary, then thicken the sauce with a little flour. Serve with either pasta or potatoes.
