Instructions
Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 12 minutes
Make a smooth dough from the ingredients for the dough, wrap it in foil, and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. Then roll it out on a floured surface and cut out stars. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Use a small cutter to cut out a piece of dough from half of the stars (similar to the mulled wine jelly stars). This is best done on the baking sheet so the star doesn’t warp. Bake in a preheated oven at approximately 180°C (top/bottom heat) for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Let cool. Melt the nougat over a bain-marie. Brush all the stars with this mixture, dust the cutouts with powdered sugar, and sprinkle with gold flakes if desired. Place the powdered sugar star on the nougat star, staggering the stars. Use a small spoon to add a little more nougat to the cutouts. Let dry. Total calories: approximately 5760 kcal
