Hearty cheese dumplings

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g bread cubes
  • 250 g mountain cheese
  • 75 g cheese (Emmental)
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 ml milk
  • 40 g butter
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 2 tbsp chives
  • salt and pepper
  • Oil, for baking

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Coarsely grate the mountain cheese and Emmental cheese and mix with the breadcrumbs. Finely chop the onion, sauté in the butter until translucent, and let cool. Whisk the eggs with the milk, add the parsley and chives, and season generously with salt and pepper. Mix all ingredients thoroughly and let stand for 15 minutes. Shape the mixture into palm-sized 2-cm-thick patties and fry slowly in a little oil.
