Pickled sweet and sour runner beans

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 kg beans (stalk beans), preferably the broad, flat beans
  • 2 liters of water
  • 500 ml vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt
  • some savory, fresh or dried

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Trim, wash, and string the beans, leaving them whole. Cook the beans in salted water until they are al dente. Drain the water and transfer the beans to a bowl. Boil the water, vinegar, sugar, salt, and savory until the sugar has dissolved. Pour the hot liquid over the beans. Let it cool and store in the refrigerator. Serve cold and make a delicious accompaniment to meat or grilled food. Tip: The beans and liquid are also great for freezing or storing in jars.
