Arabic almond rice

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 2 tbsp white wine
  • 50 g onion(s)
  • ½ tsp butter
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp clove(s)
  • ¼ tsp cardamom
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ liter of water
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • 125 g almonds, sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 servings of rice (brown rice)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Let the raisins steep in the white wine. Dice the onions and fry them in butter until translucent. Toast the cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, turmeric, and pepper for one minute. Add the water and vegetable stock cubes and bring to a boil. Rinse the brown rice, add it to the stock, and cook for 40 minutes. Toast the almond slivers in butter. Mix the almonds and raisins into the rice, adjusting the seasoning if desired.
