Marzipan baked apples with vanilla sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • 100 g marzipan paste
  • 3 tbsp almonds, chopped
  • 4 apples, sour, e.g. Boskoop
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • ⅛ liter apple juice
  • 1 pack of vanilla sauce powder for 1/2 l. milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ liter of milk
  • Raisins
  • Almond(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Cut the marzipan into pieces. Knead in the raisins and almonds. Divide the mixture into four pieces and form into 1 cm thick rolls. Cut a top off the apples. Cut out the cores. Stuff a marzipan roll into each of the resulting holes. Place in a shallow baking dish, drizzle with lemon and apple juice, and bake in the oven at 200°C for 25 minutes. Mix the sauce powder with the sugar and 3 tablespoons of milk. Bring the remaining milk to a boil, add the sauce powder, and bring to a boil while stirring. Pour the sauce over the baked apples and sprinkle with raisins and almonds.
