Tomato and bean soup, Serbian

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 75 g dried meat, diced
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, diced
  • 200 g Cabanossi, sliced
  • 1 kg of tomatoes, pureed, in a tetra pack
  • ½ liter meat broth
  • 1 gr. can/n beans, white
  • 1 small can of kidney beans
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar (wine vinegar)
  • Salt
  • Cayenne pepper
  • marjoram

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Brown the jerked beef, add the onion and garlic, and sauté. Now add the sausage and sauté for another 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, broth, and beans, bring to a boil, and simmer covered for 10 minutes over medium heat. Then stir in the ketchup, sugar, and vinegar. Season with cayenne pepper and salt. A little marjoram adds a special touch. The soup tastes delicious reheated, too. We even took this soup with us on our skiing trip.
