Sandwich from the waffle iron

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 4 slices of toast or sandwich bread
  • 4 slice(s) cheese to taste, very thinly sliced
  • 2 slice(s) bacon, ham or salami
  • 2 tsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

quick, tasty – and you don’t need a sandwich maker – a normal waffle iron is enough

Preheat the waffle iron. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of all slices of bread. Place the bacon (ham or salami) in the waffle iron for a few minutes to lightly grease it while you butter the bread. Place the bottom slices of bread butter-side down, then place a thin slice of cheese on top (if you didn’t slice it thinly, simply tear it up so it doesn’t get too thick). Remove the bacon from the waffle iron and spread it evenly on the bread, then place another thin slice of cheese and then the top slice of bread butter-side up. Place everything in the waffle iron and, when closing, use a fork to make sure the bread doesn’t slide apart (unfortunately, you can only make one bread at a time in a round waffle iron). Press firmly and wait until it smells good. Check carefully to see if the bread is a nice golden brown. Tip: With a good non-stick waffle iron, you can also add Parmesan cheese to the outside of the bread, but it may stick. For me it’s worth the cleaning because it’s so delicious.
