Recipe for seitan à la gyros

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 ml vegetable stock
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 250 g seitan flour, also called seitanfix or gluten powder
  • 2 tbsp gyro seasoning
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Mix the liquid and dry ingredients separately. Then add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients and knead everything thoroughly. Flatten the seitan loaf as much as possible and steam in the steamer for 60 minutes. Turn halfway through. Let it cool completely. Store in the refrigerator for a short time or in the freezer for a longer period. Cut into thin strips or slices before cooking. Fry in a little vegetable oil until crispy all over and season again with a little gyro seasoning, salt, and pepper.
