Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg white cabbage
  • 3 tbsp lard
  • ½ liter meat broth or vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • some water to mix
  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • some vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • Caraway seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

a recipe from Baden, like my mother always cooked.

Clean and shred the white cabbage or chop it finely. Sauté the onion in the fat until golden brown, add the cabbage and sauté thoroughly. Add the meat or vegetable broth with the spices and vinegar, and simmer in a covered saucepan over low heat for about 1 hour. Mix the flour with a little cold water, add it, and simmer thoroughly. Finally, season with sugar. Serve with smoked pork, fried or boiled potatoes, and roasts.
