Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 1 jar sour cherries or morello cherries (approx. 680g)
- 400 g sugar
- 100 ml Amaretto, approx.
- ½ lemon(s) (the juice)
- 1 vanilla pod(s)
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes
Split the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Now pour the cherries into a sieve and let them drain well (you won’t need the juice). Heat the mixture together with the sugar in a saucepan until the sugar has completely melted. Bring to a boil for about 5 minutes, then add the Amaretto, lemon juice, vanilla pod, and seeds. Simmer for another 15-20 minutes. Remove the vanilla pods and pour the mixture into jars (jam jars) while it is still hot. Now turn the jars upside down and let them cool. Tastes great with ice cream and creams.
