  • 24 stalk(s) asparagus, white, preferably of the same thickness
  • 200 g butter

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 1 lemon(s)
  • 4 tbsp chives

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Asparagus with a twist

Peel the asparagus spears and trim off the woody ends. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Preheat oven to 160 degrees Celsius. Tear off four large pieces of aluminum foil (approx. 40 cm long) and spread them out on the work surface. Place six asparagus spears on each piece of foil, sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon of salt and sugar, and drizzle each with a quarter of the melted butter. Place two slices of Cheddar cheese and a slice of Parma ham on top and drizzle with about 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Seal the asparagus parcels tightly, place them on a baking sheet, and cook on the middle rack of the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes (cooking time depends on the thickness of the asparagus spears). To serve, open the parcel, sprinkle the asparagus in each parcel with 1 tablespoon of chives, and serve immediately.
