Cream schnitzel from the oven

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 10 pork schnitzels
  • oil
  • 2 large onions
  • 250 g bacon
  • 800 g mushrooms or 2 cans of 425 g each
  • 2 cups of sweet cream
  • 1 cup crème fraîche
  • 250 Emmental cheese, grated
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 1 hour 25 minutes

Season the schnitzels with salt and pepper and fry briefly on both sides in a little oil, then place them side by side in a roasting pan or a large casserole dish. Slice the onion into rings and sauté with the diced bacon. Slice the mushrooms, sauté in a pan, and season with salt and pepper. Combine everything and mix with the cream and crème fraîche. Spread evenly over the schnitzels and sprinkle with the grated Emmental cheese. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours. Bake at 180°C on the middle rack of the oven for about 45 minutes. Serve with white wine and bread.
