Greek-style minced meat casserole

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef or mixed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 250 g cherry tomatoes
  • 200 g feta cheese or similar cheese
  • 10 green olives, pitted, in oil
  • 5 tomatoes, dried in oil
  • 10 black olives, pitted
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder, sweet

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Dice the onion and cherry tomatoes, and slice the garlic very thinly. Drain the sun-dried tomatoes and quarter them. Drain the olives. Crumble the feta cheese. Set aside about half of the feta cheese and the black olives. Mix the remaining ingredients together, season to taste, and pour into a baking dish. Spread the remaining feta cheese over the minced meat mixture and press it in with a fork to prevent it from drying out and overbrowning in the oven. Finally, scatter the black olives on top. Bake the whole thing in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan oven) for about 45 minutes. The casserole is ready when the cheese has spread over the meat to form a well-browned “lid.” It goes very well with tzatziki or a nice tomato salad.
