Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 350 g orzo pasta (rice-shaped pasta)
  • 200 g tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ¼ onion(s)
  • 40 ml cream
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 500 ml chicken broth
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • e.g. mozzarella

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

quick version, one pot

Halve the tomatoes, add them to the pan with olive oil, and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add the garlic and onion and sauté. Stir in the tomato paste, cream, chicken broth, paprika, salt, and pepper. Then add the orzo, cover, and simmer on low for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally until the orzo is al dente and nothing sticks to the bottom. Add more broth if necessary! Once the orzo is done, top with mozzarella and let the cheese melt.
