Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 1 ½ kg elderberries
- 700 ml water
- 1 ½ kg sugar
- 3 packets of vanilla sugar
- 700 ml vodka or grain schnapps

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 40 minutes
Boil the picked berries with the water, pour through a sieve (I’ve also used a food mill several times), and then pour through a fine sieve again. Return to the pot, add sugar, and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat, add vanilla sugar, and let cool. Add vodka and pour into prepared bottles. I usually double the batch with 2 kg of sugar, which makes 7 bottles.
