Black Forest Cherry Slices

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 eggs
  • 300 g sugar
  • 150 g margarine
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 400 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 150 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 jar jam, cherry flavor
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp rum
  • 2 cups of cream
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 package of chocolate flakes
  • 2 jars of sour cherries, pitted

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour

Beat the whole eggs with the margarine, sugar, and vanilla sugar until frothy. Stir in the milk, then mix in the flour, baking powder, and cocoa. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 225 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes. Turn the cake out onto a plate and remove the paper. While the cake is baking, combine the sour cherry juice with the cherry jam and rum, then stir in the cornstarch until smooth. Bring to a boil and thicken. Spread this mixture onto the hot cake, then let it cool. Whip the cream until stiff and mix with the sugar (you can sweeten it to your liking). Fold in all but 40 sour cherries and spread this cream mixture onto the cake. Sprinkle with chocolate flakes and decorate with the remaining sour cherries.
