Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 600 g tomato(s), alternatively 400 g canned food
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 4 tsp honey
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp oregano

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Finely dice the onions and crush the garlic clove. Heat the oil, add the garlic and diced onion, sprinkle with cinnamon, and fry for about 5 minutes. Blanch the tomatoes, peel, deseed, dice, and add them. Stir in the vinegar and honey, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for about 5 minutes. Thicken the sauce with tomato paste, bring to a boil briefly, stir in the oregano, and serve. The tomato sauce is delicious with pasta and roasted poultry.
