Ixxi's white bread

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour, wheat flour type 550
  • 20 g yeast, fresh
  • 325 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 20 g sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes

Sift the flour into a bowl, make a well in the middle, and add the sugar. Dissolve the yeast in 100 ml of lukewarm milk, pour into the well, and stir into a dough with a little flour from the side. Let it rise for 30 minutes, until it has doubled in size. Sprinkle salt over the remaining flour on the side and knead everything together with the remaining lukewarm milk (225 ml). Cover the bowl and leave to rise for 30-45 minutes with the oven door open at 50°C, until it has roughly doubled in size. Knead the dough again, shape it into an oblong loaf, place it in a greased and floured 25 cm loaf pan, cut the surface crosswise several times ½ cm deep, and let it rise, covered, for 30-45 minutes. Place a bowl of water on the bottom of the oven preheated to 175°C and bake the white bread for approximately 45-50 minutes. If necessary, cover the surface of the bread with aluminum foil after 30 minutes.
