Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g Leberkäse, sliced
  • 250 g cheese (Emmental), sliced
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 5 m.-large gherkins
  • Vinegar
  • oil
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Paprika powder, sweet

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Cut the meatloaf and cheese slices into strips. Roughly mix both in a bowl so that the cheese strips separate easily. Peel and halve the onion. Thinly slice the halves and add them. Thinly slice the gherkins and add them to the bowl. Add the vinegar and oil, then season with salt, pepper, and a good pinch of paprika. Mix well. It’s best to let it sit in the refrigerator for a good hour before serving, and season with salt and pepper if desired. This goes best with crusty farmhouse bread from the wood-fired oven.
