simply

Roll out the puff pastry. Peel the apples and grate them coarsely or finely, then immediately drizzle with lemon juice. Stir in the poppy seed mixture. Then add whatever you like. Dried cherries or finely chopped soft apricots, grated marzipan, and almond pieces are delicious. Spread the filling over the dough, leaving a thumb-thick strip all around. Roll up the dough and place it on the baking paper with the cut edge facing down. Press the ends closed to prevent the filling from leaking out. Poke many small holes in the dough with a fork. Bake at 180-200°C for about 20-25 minutes, depending on your oven. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar. It also tastes great with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
