Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 1 m.-large orange(s), organic
- 200 g sugar, brown
- 500 ml mulled wine
- 1 vanilla pod(s)
- 2 tbsp water

with vanilla ice cream, desserts or to pour over sparkling wine
Wash the orange in hot water, finely grate the zest, and then squeeze out the juice. Caramelize the sugar and 2 tablespoons of water in a saucepan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes. Deglaze with the orange juice and mulled wine. Halve the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the pod, seeds, and orange zest to the mulled wine and simmer for about 45 minutes until syrupy. Strain the finished syrup through a sieve. Immediately bottle, seal tightly, and let cool.
