Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 250 g honey
- 200 g brown sugar
- 150 g butter
- 100 g ground almonds
- 500 g flour
- 10 g gingerbread spice
- 1 egg(s)
- 1 tsp potash
- 2 tbsp rum
- 125 g powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- Food coloring
- Sprinkles and pearls
- Flour for the work surface
Instructions
Working time approx. 45 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 45 minutes
Honey Heat the sugar and butter in a saucepan until the sugar has dissolved. Then let it cool. Stir in the potash and rum. Knead the almonds, flour, gingerbread spice, dissolved potash and egg into the honey mixture. Knead the dough until it is no longer sticky. Shape it into a ball, wrap it in cling film and chill overnight. Then roll out the dough on a floured surface. Cut out hearts (or other shapes) and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven (top/bottom heat: 180°C, gas mark 2, fan: 160°C) for 12-15 minutes. Mix the icing sugar and lemon juice. If desired, mix with food coloring and spread it on the gingerbread hearts. Decorate with pearls and sprinkles.
