Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 110 g flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder for baking, unsweetened
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 115 g butter, softened
  • 55 g sugar
  • 10 drops of butter-vanilla flavoring and/or:
  • 2 tsp instant coffee powder
  • 115 g nuts, pecan, finely chopped
  • 35 g cherry(s), candied, finely chopped
  • 40 g icing sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F). Grease three baking sheets with butter. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Stir in the dry ingredients, coffee powder, nuts, and candied cherries and mix well. Form the mixture into walnut-sized balls and place them 2.5 cm (1 inch) apart on the prepared baking sheets. Bake only one baking sheet at a time for about 15-18 minutes, until firm to the touch. Cool completely on a wire rack, then sprinkle with powdered sugar. Shelf life: about 7 days
