Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 60 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 tsp orange peel, untreated, grated
  • 200 g butter, cold
  • 1 small egg(s)
  • 125 g powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 3 tbsp chopped pistachios, for sprinkling
  • Flour , for the work surface

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Finally a new cookie idea

Mix the flour with the baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, and orange zest. Mix with the cubed butter until crumbly. Lightly beat the egg and add it, then quickly knead everything into a smooth dough. Cover and let rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Shape the dough into approximately 8 cm long, pencil-thick strands. Twist two strands together to form a rope and place them on the baking sheet. Bake the cookies on the middle rack of the oven for about 15 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack. Sift the powdered sugar and mix with orange juice until thick. Dip the braided cookies halfway into the mixture. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios. Let the icing set.
