Toad in the hole

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ liter of milk
  • 4 sausages
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 50 g cheese, grated
  • Tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Margarine, for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Sausages in pancake batter

Break the eggs in a cup, add them to the mixing bowl and whisk well with the milk, salt, flour and baking powder. Grease the baking dish with margarine and place the sausages in the dish. Place in the oven at 180°C for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and spread the sausages with ketchup and sprinkle with some of the grated cheese. Pour the batter over them and sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese. Bake in the oven on the middle rack at 180°C for approx. 40-45 minutes. As soon as no more batter sticks to a knitting needle when you insert it, the toad in the hole is ready and can be eaten hot. A tomato salad goes wonderfully with it.
