Meatball Stroganoff – Style

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 1 stale roll
  • Water for soaking
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 40 g margarine
  • 125 ml chicken broth
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 2 small cucumbers
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • Salt
  • some butter
  • some oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Finely chop the onion and fry in a pan with a little oil until translucent. Soak the bread roll in water and squeeze out any excess water. Mix both with the minced meat, egg, salt, mustard, and pepper, and form the mixture into small balls. Fry them in the butter and oil mixture until browned all over, then remove from the pan. Stir in the broth and the sour cream mixed with the flour and bring to a boil. Add the margarine. Stir in the cucumber sticks and season to taste with salt, mustard, and pepper. Return the balls to the sauce and let stand for another 5 minutes. Serve with boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, or rice.
