Matze's Apple Schnitzel Casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pork schnitzels
  • 3 apples
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 200 ml cream
  • 200 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tsp, heaped curry powder
  • 250 g cheese, grated
  • some oil for frying
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Pound the schnitzels, season with pepper, salt, and paprika, and fry briefly on each side in a hot pan with a little oil. Dice the onions. Peel and halve the apples, remove the cores, and slice them. Arrange a layer of apple slices in a baking dish, place the schnitzels on top, sprinkle the onions over the schnitzels, and place another layer of apple slices on top. Mix together the cream, milk, ketchup, curry powder, salt, and pepper, and pour the mixture evenly over the ingredients in the baking dish. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and bake the casserole in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 30 minutes. Serve with pasta, for example.
