Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 eggs
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod(s)
  • 80 g flour
  • 10 g margarine
  • 250 ml semi-skimmed milk
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff. Then, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until frothy and creamy. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise and stir the seeds into the egg mixture. Mix about a third of the egg whites with the flour and egg yolk mixture. Carefully fold in the remaining egg whites. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a high-sided ovenproof dish with the margarine and pour in the milk; it should come to a height of about 1 centimeter. Using a spatula, drop the mixture into the dish in small blobs and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Dust the dumplings with powdered sugar just before serving. Per person: 354 kcal, 40 g carbs, 12 g fat, 30% kcal from fat.
