Ham and cheese toast

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 4 slice(s) toast bread (butter toast)
  • 2 slices of ham (prosciutto)
  • 2 slices of Cheddar or Gouda
  • 2 tbsp remoulade
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Melt the butter in a very large skillet at 35-50% power and heat. Don’t overheat! Fold a slice of cheese (preferably cheddar) into each large slice of ham. Place a swirl of remoulade on a slice of toast. Place the ham and cheese on the toast and cover with a lid made from a second slice of toast. Place the toast in the pan with the melted, hot butter, let it absorb the butter briefly, and flip after about 30-45 seconds. If the pan runs out of melted butter, add a little more butter. Cook the toast for about 4-6 minutes on the first side, until golden brown, then flip. The second side will take 2-3 minutes less than the first! Once the toast is golden brown on both sides, let it rest for another 3-6 minutes to prevent the cheese and remoulade from running out when cutting and to prevent your tongue from burning when biting into it.
