Baked beans sweet and spicy

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 can of beans, baked in tomato sauce, 420 g
  • 2 tbsp cheese (Edam), coarsely shredded
  • 2 tbsp beet syrup
  • e.g. Tabasco

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

in tomato sauce with cheese

The baked beans in tomato sauce are already cooked, so they only need to be heated briefly. Stir in the coarsely shredded Edam cheese, season with Tabasco, finish with sugar beet syrup, and serve hot. Tip: You can also garnish the beans with fried bacon and diced onions. If coarsely shredded Edam cheese isn’t available, you can use other cheese—sliced or grated. It’s especially recommended with Brunost (Norwegian brown cheese made from caramelized milk). Available under the brand names Gudbrandsdalsost, Gudbrandsdalen, Ekte Geitost, and Fløtemysost. In Sweden, it’s known as Mesost. Unfortunately, it’s rarely available in Germany. Since the cheese is already sweet, use less sugar beet syrup. You either love it or you hate it.
