Potato gratin with garlic and onions

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potato(s), pre. boiling solid
  • 3 onions
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 400 ml cream
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 50 g cheese (e.g. Gauda or Parmesan)

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Peel the potatoes and grate them with a mandoline (like cucumbers). Finely chop the onions and toss them with the potatoes. Place both in a greased casserole dish (either shingled or plain). Crush the garlic and mix with the cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour the liquid evenly over the potatoes. Finally, sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 175°C (convection oven) for about 45 minutes. If the gratin starts to brown too quickly, simply cover with aluminum foil. A mixed salad goes wonderfully with it. This version is also suitable for food combining. You just have to pay attention to the fat content of the cream and cheese.
