Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 bell peppers, red, yellow, green, diced
  • 600 g beef, cooked, cut into strips or cubes
  • 4 medium-sized gherkins, cut into cubes
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), diced
  • 10 shallots, quartered
  • 5 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp safflower oil
  • 1 tsp, strained Dijon mustard or lion mustard
  • 5 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • some cucumber juice
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 15 minutes

great use of leftover soup meat

Mix the diced ingredients together. Combine tomato ketchup, tomato paste, oil, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, cayenne pepper, and sugar with the cucumber broth to make a sweet and spicy sauce. Stir it into the remaining ingredients. Let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours. Serve with toasted farmhouse bread.
